Just upstream from Hanging Spear Falls on the Opalescent River is a 15-foot cascade that is sometimes referred to as Opalescent Falls.
Take Exit 29 from I-87 and continue west for 17 miles on Blue Ridge Road. Turn right on County Route 25 toward Tahawus, and it will eventually become a dirt road with a parking area.
Reaching the falls requires a difficult 5-mile one-way hike, and the journey should not be attempted by inexperienced hikers.
