The Feeder Canal Alliance , founded in 1987, has spearheaded efforts to preserve this historic waterway in the following ways:
- Promote the canal's history
- Preserve the canal's integrity
- Create a park along the canal
- Unite communities through cultural activities
The Alliance has published the Feeder Canal Park Master Plan which outlines the steps necessary for preserving the historic waterway and for creating a linear park utilizing the canal and its towpath. Donations to the Feeder Canal Alliance go directly toward this cultural park. The Master Plan and other items are available at the FCA office.
The 10 foot wide continuous multipurpose 9 mile trail is in place from the Feeder Dam in Queensbury, NY to McIntyre Park in Fort Edward, NY.
Walkers, hikers, joggers, cross country skiers and bicyclists are using the trail; canoeists, kayakers, and wintertime skaters are using the canal.
We invite interested individuals and organizations to become members and to support The Feeder Canal Park.
