On Saturday, September 24, the Adirondack Museum will participate in in the seventh annual Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day. Museum Day is a celebration of the dissemination of knowledge to anyone and everyone interested, free of charge -- emulating the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution.

It looks like Museum Day 2011 will be the largest to date, outdoing last years record-breaking event. Last year, 227,747 tickets were downloaded resulting in more than 500,000 museum goers to visit over 1,300 venues in all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
The Adirondack Museum, accredited by the American Association of Museums, tells stories of the people - past and present -- who have lived, worked, and played in the unique place that is the Adirondack Park. Your Adirondack experience starts here with 32 acres of engaging exhibits, interactive discovery centers, and hands-on activities making it a great place to explore, play and learn.

The Museum Day Ticket is available to download for free, and must be present to obtain free admission. Visitors who present the official pass will gain free admission for two people. One ticket is permitted per household.
