What's New In the Adirondacks

November 2011 Archives

MP900049927.JPGLapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center was founded by U.S. Olympic cross country skier Olavi Hirvonen more than 30 years ago. The four-season vacation destination has Adirondack cabins for rent, and is reminiscent of Finnish Lapland.

Expertly designed trails for cross country skiers of all skill levels twist and turn throughout the hundreds of carefully managed acres of Lapland Lake. Guests also enjoy snowshoeing, ice-skating, tubing and sledding.
It's been a long two years for people commuting between New York and Vermont, but things should get quite a bit easier today. The new $70 million bridge that spans Lake Champlain will open this afternoon, a month late of schedule.

There will be an opening ceremony today at 2:30pm, on the Crown Point side of the bridge.
