Have you ever seen a fire rainbow? We hadn’t until last week on St. Regis Lake. A fire rainbow, or circumhorizontal arc, is formed by a halo of ice crystals in high level cirrus clouds when the sun is high in the sky. Because the setting has to be just right, this is considered a rare phenomenon. It is a sight like this that makes us appreciate the beauty of this Park even more.<\/p>\n
We watched in amazement as the fire rainbow started to appear, at first in small patches, but then covering the extent of the panoramic.<\/p>\n
