The holiday spirit is alive and well in the Adirondacks, and there is no shortage of local celebrations to experience! Whether you’re looking for family-friendly holiday celebrations or some early winter season excitement, there’s a lot to check out this weekend in the Adirondacks: December 9-11.

Adirondack Holiday Celebrations
Discover the magic of the holiday season at the Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll this weekend! The three day event will be fun for the entire family, featuring live music, activities, shopping promotions, and nightlife entertainment!
Essex, NY will host a wonderful community-wide Christmas celebration on Friday and Saturday! Some of the event’s festivities will include local shopping specials, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday music, a bazaar, and more!
Visit Oak Mountain this Friday and enjoy family-friendly entertainment at the Holiday Fair! From 4:00PM-8:00PM, there will be crafters and vendors, live music, appearances from Santa, and more holiday fun!
Swing by Broadway in Saranac Lake this Friday at 6:00PM for Santa’s Fire Truck Parade! The parade will feature decorated fire trucks, and Santa, Mrs. Claus, and helper elves will greet kids at the Town Hall.
During the Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll, the Adirondack Health Jingle Bell Run/Walk will take place on Saturday at 8:30AM. The fun event will begin at the Lake Placid Public Beach and bring participants around Mirror Lake. Day-of registration will be $20.
Head over to Elizabethtown this Sunday for the “A Whole Lotta Holiday” Celebration from 11:00AM-5:00PM. Highlights will include a holiday concert, Christmas party and sale, a tree lighting, and more!
Enjoy Holiday Music
The Lake Placid Center for the Arts will host An Adirondack Christmas on Saturday, featuring several of the Adirondacks’ favorite musicians. Admission to this special holiday program is $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
Just outside the Adirondacks, the Lowville Village Band will perform a Christmas Concert at the South Lewis Central School in Turin, NY. The free concert will run from 1:00PM-2:00PM, so come out and listen to some Christmas favorites.
Winter Excitement and Activities
Kick off snowmobiling season in Old Forge at the 40th annual Snodeo, located at the Hiltebrant Recreation Center Pavilion. Snodeo will feature 2017 snowmobile models on display, a vintage snowmobile show, races, and other great events.
Over in Inlet, the American Snowmobiler DynoTech Research Shoot Out will be another fun way to celebrate the start of snowmobiling season. Races, performance shop modified runs, raffles, and more will take place. The cost to spectate is $10.
Help celebrate the upcoming winter season at the Adirondack Interpretive Center this Saturday! From 10:00AM-3:00PM, enjoy a snowshoe walk, a winter explorers program for kids, and holiday music.
Looking to prepare for the winter season? The Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center will host its annual Open House on Saturday and Sunday and offer great sales and discounts on gear and equipment, refreshments, prizes, and more!
