When many people hear “Upstate New York” and “snow” they often think of Buffalo. This year, Buffalo was the first major Upstate New York city to hit the 100-inch snow mark, but “the Queen City” had nothing on a few Adirondack municipalities. See who made the list.
New York Upstate compiled a list from NOAA Regional Climate Centers of who in Upstate New York has received the most snow so far; everyone on this top 40 list got at least 100 inches in total.
Lake Placid came in 16th with 120.9 inches, Saranac Lake 25th with 108.3 inches, and Indian Lake 30th with 106.9 inches. Buffalo ranked 38th with just 101.1 inches. According to NYUP, Syracuse is normally the snowiest large city in the US, although this time it didn’t even make the list.
