If you’ve been toying with the idea of taking up a new hobby or sport during the pandemic, turkey hunting season starts soon, and the educational course required for the certificate and license is now available online.
First-time hunters must earn the hunter education certificate prior to purchasing their first hunting license. This applies to the regular turkey season, May 1 to 31, and to the youth turkey hunting weekend April 25 – 26 (for kids ages 12 to 15).
In light of all traditional hunter education courses being cancelled due to COVID-19, new hunters can complete the required education course entirely online for $19.95. This course is open to anyone ages 11 and older and is available from April 15 to June 30.
Students who complete an online course, a virtual field day, and pass the final exam will receive the hunter education certificate. They can then purchase their hunting license.
