Grab your binoculars and get outside–the 2022 I BIRD NY Challenge has begun! This challenge is open to birdwatchers of all ages, and participants will be entered in a random drawing for a chance to win some awesome birding supplies.

How the Challenge Works
The DEC has released two levels of challenge for participants: the I Bird NY Beginner’s Birding Challenge, which requires birders to find 10 common NY birds types and is open to anyone 16 and younger, and the I Bird NY Experienced Birder Challenge, which requires participants to identify 10 unique types of birds, and is open to all ages. For both challenges, participants must fill out and submit a challenge sheet to the DEC. This can be done through email or mailed in.
All challenge sheets must be received by October 14, so don’t forget to keep an eye out for our winged friends during your summer and early fall adventures. As a bonus, if you find five birds on NYS Birding Trail sites, you’ll get an extra entry to win those sweet birding supplies!
