This weekend, the Adirondack Snowshoe Fest in Saranac Lake, home of the 2017 World Snowshoe Championships, takes place! Saturday and Sunday will be full of competitive events and family fun, including 5K and 10K races, kids scavenger hunts, guided sensory snowshoeing, and more.
Living History Event: 1774 His Majesty’s Garrison of Ticonderoga

From now until April, explore this exciting historical event. There are many engaging activities, including hands-on workshops, insightful seminars, and more. Take your family along to learn about the history of Fort Ticonderoga.

Get ready for an action-packed day at the Brant Lake Winter Carnival. Try your hand (or foot) at a human foosball competition or show off your broomball skills—there is something for everyone, no matter what you’re into. Vintage snowmobiles will be on display, Jimbo’s and the local Boy Scouts will provide delicious eats, and there will be fireworks as the night winds down.

Check out the Raquette Lake Winter Carnival for a weekend of winter fun. On Saturday, try your hand in the ladies frying pan toss and ice golf tournaments. Afterwards, warm up by the bonfire or enjoy family-friendly activities and games followed by an evening fireworks show. Then on Sunday, put your outdoor skills to the test with the Times Cross-Cut and Chainsaw Competition—it’s sure to be something you won’t want to miss!
- Rough Raquette Snowshoe Race – This weekend is also the first-ever Rough Raquette Snowshoe Race. This 5K snowshoe race or 1-mile fun run/walk is held on a completely flat course taking place on Raquette Lake’s icy surface. Loaner snowshoes won’t be available, so be sure to plan accordingly.
Lake George Winter Carnival Weekend 3

The Lake George Winter Carnival is back again this weekend. Warm up with local Lake George restaurants’ soup and chowder at the cook-off on Saturday, then vote for your favorites. Bring your golf clubs to participate in the glacier golf tournament on Sunday. All weekend there will be bonfires on the beach, children’s activities, cornhole games, and more. If you haven’t been yet, now is the time.

This weekend kicks off Indian Lake’s Snocade. Start Saturday and Sunday with a breakfast from the Indian Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout the weekend, there will be multiple activities, including an ice lantern workshop, library book and bake sales, snowmobile races, and more. Make sure to take advantage of the lunch, dinner, and happy hour drink specials at various nearby restaurants.
