Overview

The Indian Lake and Jessup River have a large smelt population that equals big fish.

The smelt population thrives in Indian Lake and that translates to big fish throughout the lake.

Smallmouht bass are located in the souther two-thirds of the lake, where the bottom is rocky. Doherty Island is one of the best spots for smallmouth fishing.

The north end is deeper and holds brown trout, lake trout, and whitefish. You can also catch pumpkinseeds (sunnys), yellow perch, and northern pike. The pike are rare but can weigh over 10 pounds.

The Jessup River flows into the south end of the lake and recieves annual stockings of brown trout and brook trout

The DEC launch is at the lake's south end for the best access for fishing and island camping.
