New Year’s Celebrations
First Night Saranac Lake – Saturday, December 31 – Sunday, January 1
Discover loads of fun and entertainment on New Year’s Eve at First Night Saranac Lake! Anyone with a First Night button can check out 10 local venues and enjoy over 15 acts! The event will conclude with a ball drop and fireworks display.
New Year’s Eve Celebration at Oak Mountain – Saturday, December 31
Oak Mountain’s New Year’s Eve celebration will begin with a Grand Alpine Buffet at 6:00pm, and reservations are required. A Torchlight Parade and fireworks display will follow at 8:00pm!
Skate Into 2017 – Saturday, December 31
Celebrate New Year’s this Saturday at the Olympic Speed Skating Oval for an ice skating party! For $5 per person, enjoy family-friendly ice skating starting at 10:30pm.
Polar Plunges
Speculator Polar Plunge – Sunday, January 1
Are you brave enough to take the polar plunge in Speculator? If so, then stop by the boat launch at the Speculator Pavilion this Sunday at noon and jump in the frigid water! Following the plunge, a party will take place at the Inn at Speculator.
Lake George Polar Plunge – Sunday, January 1
The popular Lake George Polar Plunge will once again occur on New Year’s Day at Shepard Park Beach! Go to Duffy’s Tavern on January 1 at 10:00am to register, and then prepare for the plunge at 1:00pm.
Outdoor Fun
Dynamite Hill Celebration Day – Saturday, December 31
Join the Dynamite Hill Recreation Center in Chestertown for the opening celebration of their new tow lift. Refreshments will be available, and the celebration will begin at 10:00am.
The Holiday Fun Zone – Through Sunday, January 1
Bring the kids over to Mid’s Park in Lake Placid from now through January 1 for the Holiday Fun Zone! This community event features hot chocolate, tubing or sledding, as well as activities for young and old.
Lantern-Lit Sleigh Rides – Through Saturday, March 4
Lake Clear Lodge’s Lantern-Lit Sleigh Rides will continue through March 4, 2017. Reservations are required to take one of these sleigh rides near Paul Smith’s College. Call 518-891-1489 for more information.

Adirondack Mountain Bluegrass Jam – Friday, December 30
Visit the Garnet Hill Nordic Center this Friday for a free Bluegrass Jam! Local Adirondack bluegrass musicians will stop by to play from 1:00pm-4:00pm, and refreshments will be available.
Stars on Ice – Friday, December 30
Look forward to Stars on Ice at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid! This event is a holiday treat for fans, and it will feature a variety of memorable and popular ice skaters. Tickets start at $25 per person.
