We’re about halfway through spring and there is much to look forward to in the Adirondacks. The daffodils are blooming in Saranac Lake, and openings and celebrations are happening from Ticonderoga to Hadley and beyond. Open Houses & Openings
Want to find the perfect summer camp for your kids this year in the Adirondacks? Stop by Pok-O-MacCready Camps in Willsboro for an Open House event this Saturday from 1:00pm-5:00pm. Located right by Long Pond, Pok-O-MacCready Camps has offered a traditional camp experience for over 100 years.
The Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne teaches all kinds of classes, including basketry, blacksmithing, fishing, and woodworking. Thanks to a generous grant from the A.Z. Solomon Charitable Trust, the school was able to build a brand new A.Z. Solomon Woodworking Center! Join them in celebrating the opening of this special center this Friday at 6:00pm.
The Adirondack Shakespeare Company will open their 2017 tour with a performance of MacBeth at the Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake. Admission to this Friday evening event is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, students, and veterans, and free for kids 12 and under.
Saranac Lake’s biggest spring festival is Daffest, set to take place April 27-April 30. During these four days, you’ll find plenty of entertainment going on in the local community, including the 5K Zoom in Bloom Race and the Daffest Pub Crawl. Stop by, check out the daffodils, and enjoy spring in Saranac Lake.
Get ready for one final maple event this season in the Town of Hadley, NY. The Maple in April Festival features family fun, vendors, arts & crafts, a car show, maple goods, and much more. The festival will take place on Rockwell Street on Saturday and Sunday.
Over at St. Vincent’s Thrift Store in Peru, there will be a special Spring Sale on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Items on sale will include gently used clothing and footwear.
Special Week-Long Events
Multiple local restaurants in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Keene, Tupper Lake, and Wilmington, NY will participate in the 2017 Eat ADK Restaurant Week. Now bigger and better than last year, participating restaurants will offer special prix-fixe menus with pricing options of $15, $20, or $30.
Join the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) for their celebration of National Small Business Week starting Sunday, April 30. Throughout the week, a variety of open houses, events, and more will take place throughout the Ticonderoga community.
4th In The North Fundraisers
The 21st Annual Ticonderoga Alumni Basketball Tournament will kick off this Saturday at the Ticonderoga High School Gymnasium. Spectator admission is $2, and funds raised will go toward the 2017 Best 4th In The North.
To help support the 2017 Best 4th In The North, the event’s committee will host the Best 4th In The North Night at Madden’s Pub in Ticonderoga on Saturday from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Tips that the guest bartenders receive will go toward the upcoming July celebration.
The Last of the Easter Egg Hunts
An Easter egg hunt for kids will take place at Arrowhead Park in Inlet this Saturday from 1:00pm-2:00pm. This egg hunt is for kids 12 and younger, and you must bring a basket to collect your eggs. All participating kids will receive a bag of treats.
An adult Easter egg hunt is scheduled for this Saturday at Fern Park in Inlet. For ages 21 & older, the special eggs will contain prizes or gift certificates donated by local businesses. The Easter egg hunt will begin at 5:00pm.
