Trekondeorga Weekend 2017 – Friday, August 25 – Sunday, August 27
For the third year in a row, Trekonderoga Weekend will be happening in Ticonderoga! From Friday through Sunday, Trekkies can enjoy panels, presentations, workshops, vendors, tours of the recreated Star Trek sets, the Celebrity Autograph room, and many more activities. If you love the original Star Trek series, then this is the event for you.
Blue Mountain Lake Flotilla Festival – Sunday, August 27
135 years ago, locals in the Blue Mountain Lake community celebrated the opening of the world’s first hotel powered entirely by electricity, the Prospect House, with a flotilla and festival of lights. Now, that festival will take place once again on Blue Mountain Lake. Stop by on Sunday for a reception, the launching of the flotilla, and the lighting of the Chinese lanterns.
George Orwell’s 1984 at the Pendragon Theatre – Friday, August 25 – Sunday, September 3
For a limited time, you can witness a fantastic stage adaption of George Orwell’s 1984 at the Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake. This adaption by Michael Sullivan tells the story of Winston Smith, a cog in the giant machine state of Oceania. A reception will be held following opening night this Friday.
Tanner-Pond Wedding: Murder Mystery Party – Saturday, August 26
Prepare for a murder mystery at the Tannery Pond Center! North Creek’s community center welcomes you to their benefit gala known as “Tanner-Pond Wedding,” which will include a fun murder mystery during the evening as well as food, music, and more. Tickets are $55pp.

8th Annual CCE Golf Tournament & Silent Auction – Saturday, August 26
Want to play golf for a good cause? Bring your clubs over to Cronin’s Golf Course in Warrensburg for the 8th annual Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Golf Tournament and Silent Auction this Saturday. The cost includes green fees, cart, BBQ, goodie bag, awards, and prizes. All proceeds from the tournament will help support CCE’s educational programs.
ADK 80K Ultra Trail Run and Mountain Bike Race – Saturday, August 26 & Sunday, August 27
The High Peaks Mountain Bike Center in Lake Placid will host the ADK 80K Ultra Trail Run and Mountain Bike Race this Saturday and Sunday. All races will begin at their Mt. Van Hoevenberg race village and will include both running races and mountain bike events.
Pat Stratton 2017 Memorial Race through the Adirondacks – Saturday, August 26
Experience an unforgettable bike ride through the Adirondacks at the Pat Stratton 2017 Memorial Race in Saranac Lake this Saturday. Options include a Century Ride, a 50-mile Ride, a 25-mile Ride, and a Free Kids Ride. The free BBQ for participants will begin at 2:00pm, and there will be prizes and pies.
Annual Thistle “Lumberjack Regatta” – Saturday, August 26 & Sunday, August 27
On Saturday and Sunday, the waters of Big Tupper Lake will feature the annual Thistle “Lumberjack Regatta.” There will be three races on the water on Saturday and then two additional races on Sunday. An awards ceremony will conclude the event after the final Sunday race. Come by and see these exciting races!

Want to learn more about the talented artists of Saranac Lake? Visit the region this weekend for the free Saranac Lake Artworks Studio Tours. These tours are self-guided and allow visitors a chance to see area artists’ studios, work spaces, and galleries.
“The Eagle Huntress” and Falconry at The Wild Center – Saturday, August 26
Join The Wild Center in Tupper Lake this Saturday for a special screening of “The Eagle Huntress,” an awe-inspiring tale about the unbreakable bond between humans and nature. Curator and falconer Leah Valeria will also provide a demonstration featuring Seraphina, a red-tailed hawk. There is a suggested $5 donation.
