Guys on Ice is a play about ice fishing – how appropriate for the Adirondacks at this time of year! This is being performed at the Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake and opening night is this Friday.
Coincidentally, there are also two actual ice fishing derbies going on this weekend in the Adirondack region.

Ken Lyon Sr. Memorial Ice Fishing Derby

The Ken Lyon Sr. Memorial Ice Fishing Derby happens on Alger Island in Old Forge. There’s always a big turnout and plenty of prizes.
Winter Birding Weekend in Long Lake

Local birding expert and guide Joan Collins of Adirondack Avian Expeditions is leading two days of birding tours and a presentation.
Mike Norris Ice Fishing Derby on Raquette Lake

There is also a fishing derby happening on Raquette Lake this weekend. There will be cash prizes and plaques for winners, and hot chocolate and snacks provided throughout the day. Registeration for ages 16 and over is $20.
Adirondack Hotel’s Chili and Kids Macaroni and Cheese Cookoff

A chili cook off for adults, and a mac and cheese cook off for kids – what could be more fun? It’s all happening at the Adirondack Hotel on Lake Lake.
Sunday the 27th
Adirondack Experience: Cabin Fever Sunday
Sunday, January 27
Cabin Fever Sundays are happening at Adirondack Experience in Blue Mountain Lake on select Sundays. This will be the second of four, and the focus for this one is Who’s There: An Adirondack Backyard Survey. Learn about all the wildlife and plant life one can find in the Adirondack region. The cost is $5.
