There’s a new hiking challenge in town! St. Lawrence County has introduced the Great 8 Challenge, a family-friendly hiking challenge intended to introduce the public to new trails and experiences in the County.

Choose Your Challenge
The Great 8 Challenge includes three distinct challenges: Nature Nuts, Waterfall Crawl, and Riverside Run. Nature Nuts focuses on nature-filled hikes, the Waterfall Crawl follows along the St. Lawrence River Valley, and the Riverside Run provides experiences along the five major rivers of St. Lawrence County. Each challenge consists of eight trails.
The Rules at a Glance
To join in on the challenge, hikers can create an account at St. Lawrence County Trails’ website and use this to document trails completed. When you have a trail log for every trail in the challenge, you’ll receive a congratulatory email with a digital badge. (Physical patches are coming soon!) Trail logs that date back to January 2020 are eligible to count in the challenge.
