Officials with the always popular privately owned museum and tourist destination in the Adirondacks have stated the the ownership of the Carillon cruise boat will be finalized soon and boat tours will begin in the 2015 season.
The Carillon is a 60-foot replica of a 1920s Thousand Islands cruise boat. It was previously owned by a couple who conducted cruises out of Vermont across the lake from Ticonderoga.
Private donations have helped Fort Ticonderoga meet the deadline for finalizing the purchase of the Carillon. Over 60 donors contributed after a request for donations was issued last month with an imminent April 1st deadline.
Fort Ticonderoga President Beth Hill stated that a dock will be built on the New York side of Lake Champlain and tours are set to start Memorial Day weekend, with 90-minute cruises being offered three times a day.
