These three events span multiple days this weekend, so you can choose which day fits into your schedule the best.
Lake Placid Horse Show – Tuesday, June 23 – Sunday, June 28
The first of a trio of high-caliber summer horse shows is already underway in Lake Placid! See competition ranging from ponies ridden by tomorrow’s champions to members of the U.S. Equestrian Team atop some of the world’s finest horses.
Free Fishing Weekend – Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28
Anyone can fish New York State waters without a fishing license this Saturday and Sunday! Make sure you verify all regulations for a body of water before casting your line.
Adirondack Wine & Food Festival – Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28
Take a short drive to Lake George to sample craft beverages and foods from more than 30 regional producers and vendors in the new Charles R. Wood Park!
Athletic Events
Even if you’re not registered to participate, you can still enjoy spectating these races!
HITS North Country Triathlon – Friday, June 26 – Sunday, June 28
This weekend full of family-friendly fun in Hague includes races of five different distances PLUS a Free Fitness Expo. Registration is closed, but you can still attend the expo and watch the races!
Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon – Saturday, June 27
This is the 33rd year of the Tinman Triathlon, making it one of the longest-tenured swimming, biking, and running races in the country! Registration is closed, but you can take in the beauty of the Adirondacks while watching the competition.
Michael J. Cerroni Memorial 5K Run/Walk – Sunday, June 28
This exciting 5K event honors Michael J. Cerroni and proceeds benefit a scholarship fund in his name. Online registration closes on Thursday, but race day registration is also available!
DIY Workshops
Learn a new skill at these fun classes!
Blacksmithing: Hudson Valley Trapper Survival Kit – Friday, June 26 – Tuesday, June 30
This 5-day class that extends past the weekend will teach you the techniques you need to make three tools that helped ensure the survival of many trappers and explorers long ago.
Beginning Sewing: Pillowcase – Saturday, June 27
This class is perfect for anyone age 10 or over who would like to learn how to use a sewing machine. You’ll start at the very beginning of the process and wind up with your own handmade pillowcase!
Square Foot Gardening – Saturday, June 27
Learn all about Square Foot gardening – the practice of planting small but intensive gardens – from a local gardening guru. This class is perfect for both beginners and experts!
Cobweb Chaser Broom – Sunday, June 28
Make a cobweb chaser broom in the traditional Appalachian style. In this great class for beginners, you’ll also hear history, legends, and fun facts!
