As part of Governor Cuomo’s NY Works program, the Department of Environmental Conservation recently announced that $600,000 worth of improvements will be made to the Paradox Lake Campground and Boat Launch.
Beginning on October 1, all roads within the campground will be milled and paved. The boat launch itself will also be overhauled, and boaters and camp owners should note that the launch will be closed during Columbus Day Weekend. The launch is expected to re-open by October 18.
“Campers, boaters and anglers will have a much more pleasant experience at Paradox Lake Campground and Boat Launch upon completion of this project,” DEC Acting Director Marc Gerstman said in a statement. “Through Governor Cuomo’s NY Works program, DEC continues to improve the outdoor recreational infrastructure in the Adirondacks to provide a quality experience for visitors and residents.”
$10 million was spent last year on fish hatchery repairs and land and water access projects as part of the NY Works program.

I wish the state would spend some money updating the rest rooms and showers at Lewey lake campground. We have been going there for over 25 years and they are still the same . They really need to be updated . In fact, the bath houses would be the logical choice to rebuild into new showers and rest facilities.
