There are always a lot of fun things going on in the Adirondacks, but this weekend might be one of the best for people who love the winter weather. After the recent heavy snowfall, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities as well as some of March’s best events!
Discover Snowy Weather Fun
Although snowmobiling season in the Adirondacks typically comes to a close in mid-March, this year, the region has received plenty of end-of-winter snowfall. Make the most of the season and attend the 2018 SnoFest in Old Forge this Friday and Saturday! The snowmobile festival will feature 2019 snowmobile models and gear, in addition to demo rides. Admission is free.
On Saturday from 12:00pm-1:30pm, kids ages 7-12 are welcome to wear any Gore Mountain or MORE GORE sticker on their helmet and bring a junior lift ticket for 3/10/2018 or a valid junior season pass to the designated Gore Mountain tent. Once they arrive, Gore team members will take a souvenir photo and give you a free junior lift ticket for a future date.
The third and final 2018 Winter Weekend at Camp Santanoni in Newcomb is happening this weekend! Strap on your cross-country skis or snowshoes and get ready to explore the historic camp properties, tour the buildings, and view interpretive displays. This event is free to attend.
The North Creek Ski Bowl will host thrilling cross-country ski races over two and half days. Since 1992, this event has grown into one of the highlights of the cross-country ski season for junior athletes in the U.S. and Canada. Stop by and watch some of the races.
Find Early Maple Season Events
One of the most popular maple events in the Adirondack Park is Thurman Maple Days. Held over the course of three weekends, Thurman Maple Days features open houses and activities at four sugar houses in the local area.
Planning to be in the Lake George Region this Saturday? Take a short drive to Bolton Landing and learn about the tradition of maple sugaring at Up Yonda Farm. Admission is just $4 for non-members, and the instructors will tap, collect, and boil the sap of sugar maples on the property.
Enjoy Family-Friendly Activities
Visit The Wild Center in Tupper Lake with the family this Saturday and enjoy a fun-filled Family Science Day! Naturalists will lead participants through engaging, drop-in activities from 11:00am-3:00pm. Non-members must pay museum admission to participate; members can participate for free.
Take a trip to the northwestern Adirondacks and have fun at March into Spring, a carnival-style fundraiser hosted at the Clarkson University Student Center from 11:00am-3:00pm on Saturday. There will be games for all ages and several raffles.
