Quick News Roundup: Gore, Hiking/Hunters & Adirondack Art
Gore Mountain Season Price Deadline Coming Up
If you’re toying with the idea of getting season passes to Gore for the upcoming winter, then now’s the time to pull the trigger. You can get the best possible price from now through Wednesday, December 9. And, they open December 4!
Bonus recommendation: McCauley Mountain Ski Area also has a deal going on right now with 15% off season passes.
Hikers & Hunters Are Out at the Same Time
According to the DEC, hunting incidents involving non-hunters are rare. However, this year the DEC is reminding us to stay safe out there because there’s an increased number of both hikers and hunters as a result of the pandemic.
They’re asking outdoor enthusiasts to Be Seen, Stay Safe, and Show Respect during the fall and winter hunting seasons. “Whether you are a hiker, hunter, nature photographer, mountain biker, or trapper, following a few simple measures can make your choice of recreation safe and enjoyable while sharing the outdoors with others,” DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos said in a statement.
In fact, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reported on Monday that North Country meat processors are busier than normal this year, thanks to record-breaking sales of hunting and trapping licenses.
The View Celebrates Artists Sunday & They Have Ornament Painting To-Go Kits
Artists Sunday, which is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, is a nationwide movement dedicated to supporting artists. The View Arts Center in Old Forge plans to recognize the day by bringing the artwork to you via their online shop at ViewArts.org. In addition, The View has holiday ornament to-go kits as part of Christmas on Main Street (more on that below). The kits include six different ornaments, five paint colors, ribbon, and two paintbrushes. They’re $22 each (not including shipping if you buy online), and supplies are limited.
You can stop into The View to shop in person and/or to purchase an ornament kit Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm; kits are available to purchase at The View through December 23 or online through December 15.
