Newcomb Hosts Teddy Roosevelt Days

Newcomb, NY – Teddy Roosevelt had a love for the Adirondacks and a special connection with the town of Newcomb NY. Join the celebration of the life and times of Teddy Roosevelt, September 9-12th, 2010. The Teddy Roosevelt Days will be filled with good old fashioned fun for the whole family!Teddy Roosevelt Days

The events will take place all over the town of Newcomb. There will be raffles, silent auctions, wagon rides, TR impersonators, face painting, kid’s activities and much more! There will also be food served throughout the weekend and church services on Sunday!

The TR Weekend is sponsored by the Town of Newcomb, the Newcomb Chamber of Commerce and the Newcomb Mountains Quilters.

TR Days All-Weekend Events:

  • Quilt Show:: Sept. 9, 10, and 11th
    at the VIC sponsored by the Newcomb Mountain Quilters Thurs. 6 - 8pm, Fri. and Sat. 9am - 5pm.
  • Newcomb Mountain Quilters: 14th Annual Adirondack Craft Fair:: Sept. 11 &12th
    at Newcomb Central School Sat. 10am - 4pm and Sun. 10am - 3pm
    Quilt Raffle to be drawn Sun. at 3pm. Handcrafted Adirondack items by Adirondack Artisans including quilted goods, hand spun wool, knitted items, balsam gifts, scenic photos and so much more.
  • Silent Auction:: Sept. 10, 11 and 12th
    at Newcomb Central School starting Fri. 4:30pm - Sun. 3pm
    Teddy Roosevelt and Adirondack themed goods and other special items of interest to bid on and benefit local volunteer groups.
  • Santoni Wagon Rides to Farm:: Sept. 11 and 12th Sat. and Sun. 10am - 2pm Gate Lodge
    Open House with Guides present.

    Joe Wiegand, TR impersonator who has performed for the White House, will do his stage performance for us. Donations will be accepted at the door.

  • History of Ghost Town Adirondac and Iron Works Blast Furnace:: 1pm at Upper Works Parking Lot, Tahawus
    by Paul Hai and special appearance of TR (Joe Wiegand as Teddy Roosevelt in disguise)

  • Community Garden Viewing:: 12 Noon on Marcy Lane before the Rescue Building
  • Chief Red Hawk Show:: 1pm at Newcomb Central School
    Lovable and enlightening, funny and instantly likable, Red Hawk brings to the stage a powerful and charismatic presence. His CD received a nomination for “Best Spoken Word” in the 2004, 2006 and 2007 Native American Music Awards a 2005 Independent Music Award nomination.
