If you’re planning on snowmobiling in the Sargent Ponds Wild Forest, keep your eye out for a change in the trail route. Snowmobilers are no longer permitted to ride on the Raquette Lake Canoe Carry Trail between Outlet Bay and North Point Road.

The old route ran across private property. However, because many of the buildings and camps are seasonal, nobody had ever reported this. There are now several houses that are occupied year round, and snowmobile use has been bothersome to the owners.
