The NYS DEC will be closing all snowmobile trails and seasonal access roads by this weekend.
With the warm weather we’ve been having and the lack of snow from this winter, muddy trails are harmful to both snowmobilers and their machines. Motor vehicles tend to tear up and leave trenches in muddy trails and roads, which should be avoided if possible.
Trails and access roads will be closed on Forest Preserve, State Forest, and Conservation Easement Lands in the Adirondacks and the Tug Hill Plateau. Gates will reopen after the spring mud season, when motor vehicle use will not damage the roads and trails.
