Nearly 2,500 athletes compete in the Annual Lake Placid Ironman competition. The competition consists of three events, a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, followed by a full 26.2 mile marathon.
An event of this scale requires a lot of support, and the Lake Placid event in particular requires the help of almost 3,000 volunteers. Volunteers get a cool t-shirt, food and drinks while you’re working, and a great party afterwards with prizes and awards.
In addition to that, volunteers get a chance to sign up for next year’s event before everyone else. So if you are considering competing in the event next year, you should volunteer this year!
There are many different roles that need to be filled on race day (July 24th) and the week leading up to the event, as well as the day after.
