About this event

A festive celebration of Afro-pop, driving vodun rhythms, enticing vocal harmonies and Caribbean styles performed by three blood-brothers from the coast of West Africa.

Jomion and The Uklos is a family band from Benin, West Africa, led by Samuel "Jomion" Gnonlonfoun. With his brothers JB, Mathieu and his daughter Rose, Jomion combines traditional rhythms and songs from his country culture with reggae, salsa and jazz to create vibrant, relaxed dance music, which he calls Whedo-jazz. They performed on Lincoln Center Outdoors, with B.B. King in Times Square, and recorded with the icon of music Bobby McFerrin.

This event is part of the Touba Family Foundation series. Buy a Series Subscription and you can get access to this event, plus the Harmonia Ensemble on July 17 and Cantrip on August 28.
