About this event

On the centennial of Sembrich’s pink stucco teaching studio, a documentary that chronicles the creation of another great structure, the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. This fascinating film features archival footage (including the 1959 Lincoln Center groundbreaking with President Eisenhower), stills and interviews and—all against the backdrop of 50 years of vocal performances at The Met.

Legendary singer Leontyne Price, who performed at the opening night of the Lincoln Center venue and many times thereafter, lends personal recollections of her time at the Met. “It’s the temple of opera,” she declares about the theater.

This program is free, but reservations are encouraged.
