First in 1932, and then again in 1980 Lake Placid hosted the best of the world’s athletes with the Winter Olympics. Now, with the completion of the state of the art Conference Center at Lake Placid, the city can continue to host the best and brightest, this time in a variety of fields.
The Conference Center is adjoining to the Olympic Center and is nearly twice the size of the previous building. Despite its massive size, the Conference Center will save on energy costs. While that may sound impossible, the building can pull off lower utility bills through the use of eco-technology.
The Conference Center was constructed with the hopes of gaining a GOLD LEED certification. This recognition would certify that the Conference Center went above and beyond in order to conserve energy by creating a space that is as ecologically friendly as it is conference ready.
The Conference Center will have its grand opening tonight, Tuesday, June 21, celebrating the official opening of the new building. From 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, you can tour the brand new facility, nibble on hor d’ oeuvres, and listen to live music!
The Summer Solstice grand opening marks the end of the two year, $17 million project. The conference center was supported by the Empire State Economic Development fund that former Governor Pataki had set aside for the 60,000 square foot building.
The Conference Center held its first conference in early May, and has already hosted New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The June Grand Opening symbolizes the official beginning of the Conference Center as one of the Adirondacks premier conference centers!
Will you be at the opening? Are you excited to see such a green building in the heart of the Adirondacks? Tell us what you think!
