If you’re traveling in the northern Adirondacks in the near future, you might witness a strange sight – a floating bridge!
That would be a piece of the new Lake Champlain Bridge, which is expected to be “floated” – transported by boat – sometime soon.
These pieces are on their wpay to be part of the new bridge between Crown Point, NY and Chimey Point, VT.
They will be replacing the old, deteriorating bridge which was blownup in December 2009 to make room for new construction.
In the next few months, passersby will see more of the bridge take shape as the project approaches its October 9th deadline.
When the bridge is finished, the Lake Champlain Bridge Community is planning an inauguration party, with fireworks, parades, speeches, and ceremonial “first crossings” of the brand-new bridge.
Are there other projects in the Adirondacks that we should know about? Would you dare to be the first to cross the new bridge? Please tell us!
