What could be more inspiring for an artist than the Adirondack Region?! If the lakes, rivers, ponds, mountains, trees, and wildlife speak to you, you should apply to be an artist-in-residence at ESF’s Newcomb Campus this summer.

According to ESF’s posting, “Based out of ESF’s Adirondack Interpretive Center (AIC), the artist-in-residence will explore his or her artistic interests and passions while sharing the artistic process and resulting work with AIC visitors.” The program provides “studio space, onsite room and board, and a modest stipend” and is open to all levels of artists, including graduate students.
Last year’s artist-in-residence, Frances Gaffney, reports that she spoke with AIC visitors, led public workshops, interacted with guests while she was painting outdoors, and even held an art exhibit at ESF’s main campus in Syracuse.
