When done right, the martini is a timeless, classic drink that can showcase a bartender’s skills and knowledge of delectable flavor combinations. It’s only fitting, then, that the drink gets its own day of recognition. That’s right, June 19 is National Martini Day! To celebrate, we tracked down two of the Adirondacks’ best martinis to give you a glimpse at the pinnacle of beverage perfection.
Our first martini, as pictured above, is the Dirty Pretzel Martini from Sticks & Stones Wood Fired Bistro & Bar in Schroon Lake. The Dirty Pretzel Martini features a unique twist on a classic vodka martini with blue cheese pretzel stuffed olives as the secret ingredient. Pretzels may not normally come to mind when you’re thinking of constructing a martini, but once you try it, boy does it work! Sticks & Stones is open for dinner every night of the week, so you have plenty of opportunities to go in and sample this unique creation.
Our second featured martini, The Upstate, comes to us from The View Restaurant at the Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa and is comprised of McKenzie Rye Whiskey, muddled seasonal berries, bitters, and Finger Lakes Distilling’s Cassis Liqueur. Garnished with fresh berries, this martini is as beautiful as the scenery surrounding the restaurant. Be sure to sample some of the exceptional cuisine while you’re there!
The Dirty Pretzel and The Upstate are just two of the many spectacular martinis the Adirondack Region has to offer. Celebrate National Martini Day on June 19 by trying our favorites, then finding your own. And remember, always drink responsibly!
