With their unique calls and instantly recognizable appearance, loons are some of the most beloved animals in the Adirondacks. In order to determine how many of these water birds are currently living in the park, the Wildlife Conservation Society is conducting its 15th Annual Loon Census this weekend, and your help is needed!

From 8am – 9am on Saturday, the Society is asking volunteers to report the number of adult and immature loons they see. Volunteering is simple! If you’re interested, all you need to do is call 518-891-8874 x106.
Other states will be conducting similar censuses so a regional population can be established.
