It’s no secret that the Adirondacks boast some of the best fall foliage in the country, but Country Living Magazine recently took note of two towns in particular and included them in its list of “50 Small Towns Across America With The Most Beautiful Fall Foliage.”

The first, Saranac Lake, was described as a “scenic village in the Adirondacks [that] offers miles of lakes, mountains, and hiking trails surrounded by the beautiful fall colors this region is known for.”
The second, Keene, was identified as the home of Mt. Marcy that “only gets more beautiful in the fall when the mountains are alive with rich fall color.”
Rounding out the list were other towns from the Northeast (Kent, CT; Camden, ME; Jefferson, NH; Stowe; VT), and some from out west (Breckenridge, CO; Calistoga, CA; Park City, UT; West Glacier, MT). New England was the most represented region, but states like Colorado and California each had multiple towns make the list.
What’s your favorite part about fall foliage in the Adirondacks? Where’s your favorite spot for leaf peeping?

Saranac and Lake Piseco with Panther Mountain-gorgeous foliage. Yet since I can’t visit anymore I am enjoying the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains from my front door. Color haven’t gotten as vibrant yet. We are Lawsonville, NC right near Hanging Rock State Park.
Just as the forests lose their color, the tamaracks stand forth with the beautiful gold of their needles. Groves of the trees make for an interesting last gasp of fall color.
I’m so sick and tired of everybody making such a fuss over Saranac Lake it isn’t funny!!! There are more hiking trails, lakes and rivers and mountains not to mention the Wild Walk at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake but all Saranac Lake has is a mayor that got booted out of Plattsburg because he is worthless!!! It won’t be long before you say that the shit in Saranac Lake smell sweeter than any where else in the Adirondacks!!!!!
