1. Daffest 2016 in Saranac Lake

Celebrate Daffest 2016 and smell the daffodils growing throughout Saranac Lake. Come for the flowers, and stay for the festivities, including walking tours, live music, and more! It’s a great way to spend Mother’s Day on Sunday!

Lake Placid
Come to the John Brown Farm State Historic Site and celebrate the life and legacy of abolitionist John Brown. The inaugural Spirit of John Brown Freedom Awards will be presented to actor Danny Glover, Albany civil rights leader Alice Green and the late Brother Yusuf Abdul-Wasi Burgess, a youth advocate. There will be performances by award-winning folk duo Magpie and nationally recognized jazz critic Reuben Jackson will headline the event. CBS News is reporting that Danny Glover is expected to attend.
3. Opening Reception: 2016 Central Adirondack Art Show

Old Forge
To celebrate this year’s edition of Old Forge’s long-standing tradition, the Central Adirondack Art Show, View will host a free opening reception.
4. 59th Annual Hudson River Whitewater Derby
Saturday, May 7 & Sunday, May 8
North Creek
The 59th Annual Hudson River Whitewater Derby is the area’s longest running whitewater derby. The two-day event will feature a “Not-So-Whitewater” race on May 7, and then the Whitewater Derby Downriver race will take place the following day on May 8.
5. Fort Ticonderoga Living History Event : Opening Weekend
Saturday, May 7 & Sunday, May 8
Ticonderoga
Experience a living history event at Fort Ticonderoga this weekend when the fort opens for the season! You can take part in daily programs with reenactors, visit the King’s Garden, and even go on a self-guided tour of the historic fort.
