The farmers market, located at 1114 Wicker Street near the Wal-Mart entrance, across the street from Christopher Chevrolet Buick, is opening this Saturday and running 10am to 1pm every Saturday through October 8th.
Patrons can expect seasonal, locally produced, fresh harvested fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, maple syrup, breads, baked goods, and honey; there will also be a variety of hand crafted products.
“The Chamber staff could not be more excited about the first market of the season,” said Matthew Courtright, Executive Director of the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC); the TACC coordinates the market with support from the Town and sponsors. “This is the second year at the Wicker Street location. . .The property owners have made noticeable improvements to the site and new signage and a formal barrier system will enhance efficiency and safety. I foresee a sensational season ahead.”
July is expected to be a busy month at the market. A Kids’ Korner will be featured on July 9th, with “Planting a Pizza Garden.” This will be an ongoing project with kids planting herbs and vegetables often found on pizza, and they will grow them in the shape of a pizza. The kids will be responsible for taking care of the garden over the course of several weeks.
July 16th will commemorate the Grand Opening with live music from Mary Jo von Tury and Dwinal Smith, a local duo who performs bluegrass, blues, and rock and roll.
On July 30th, the market will move to Montcalm Street/Downtown Ticonderoga to participate in the popular 8th annual StreetFest. StreetFest is a day-long celebration with food, live music, kids activities, and more.
If you are interested in selling at the market, they are open to new vendors and can offer a flexible policy allowing you to attend as many or as few markets as you prefer. They’re always looking for entertainment, kids activities, and volunteer assistance as well. Contact the TACC for more information at 518.585.6619.
