The leaves are changing and days are getting shorter – fall has begun in the Adirondacks. There are a lot of great festivals and opportunities to enjoy the crisp fall weather this weekend in the Adirondacks, including the popular Great Adirondack Moose Festival, so take a look and see what interests you!
The 44th annual Adirondack Balloon Festival will feature hundreds of hot air balloons taking off into the sky in both Glens Falls and Queensbury. Other events at the festival will include a Zonta craft fair, live music, and kids’ activities.
The inaugural Town of Johnsburg History Weekend will take place at different locations in North Creek. A Teddy Roosevelt reenactor will appear at some of the featured events, such as a train ride from Saratoga to North Creek on Saturday morning.
Get ready for a fun outdoor adventure at the Great ADK Moose Festival this weekend in Indian Lake! Stop by the festival and enjoy games, contests, guided tours, and more. Maybe you’ll see a moose!
Bring the family to the Big Tupper Ski Area for OkTupperfest 2016! The cost of admission will be $5 per person or $20 per vehicle, and the fall festival will offer great food, helicopter rides, children’s activities, and more.
From 10:00AM-4:00PM at the Speculator Pavilion, there will be a fantastic Apple Fest featuring all sorts of apple products, including cider and pie, as well as music and crafts.
Music & Arts
View Arts Center in Old Forge will host its 2nd annual Adirondack Music, Art & Food Festival from Friday through Sunday. Concerts will be held each day of the festival, and tickets are available online.
The 2nd annual Concert for the Cure will be held at the Essex Community Church at 6:00PM. The cost of admission will be $20 per adult and $10 for children 10 and under, and the concert will feature the Bluegrass Gospel Project.
Drive up to Canton this weekend for the 15th annual Remington Arts Festival! From 10:00AM-4:00PM, the festival will feature an art show, historical tours, and more.
Fun Recreational Activities
In both Chestertown and Horicon, the North Warren Chamber will host a free event called Outdoors Alive (previously Sportmen’s Weekend). Fishing, hunting, and wildlife experts will give demonstrations and talks about each of their fields.
The 200-mile Ragnar Relay Adirondacks kicks off Friday morning as runners start in Saratoga Springs and head north toward Lake Placid. Featuring teams of 12 or 6, there is a Wait List for those interested in registering.
Challenge yourself to one of the featured races in the Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival. Races include the marathon, half-marathon, relays, 5K, 10K, and children’s fun run. You can check race availability online.
At 10:00AM, the Long Lake Long Boat Regatta will begin at the Long Lake Town Beach. This exciting event will feature war canoes and C4 boats competing for the $5,000 purse.
