From holiday celebrations to winter carnivals, the fun never ends in the Adirondacks during the colder months. Renowned for its beautiful Ice Palace, the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is set to return once again in 2017. If you’d like to be featured as a vendor or in the parade, find out what you need to do to apply now!
The winter carnival is set to take place on February 3-12, and the new theme will be “Adirondack Wildlife.” Some of the community-wide events will include the annual Gala Parade, winter outdoor activities, the Past Royalty Mixer & Dinner, and much more!
The Gala Parade is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2017, and participants (floats and walking units) will have an opportunity to win trophies. The trophies will be awarded in six categories: Business, Civic or Volunteer Group, Youth Group, School Group, Independent Group, and Animal Unit. The Best in Parade will receive the Louis Fobare Trophy.
Parade participants will be judged based on how well they match the “Adirondack Wildlife” theme, sound system, live music, choreography, costumes, float decoration, creativity, and use of unusual items.
If you think you can win, then you should submit your completed parade application by email to email@example.com or by mail to Winter Carnival Committee, P.O. Box 829, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 no later than February 8.
For those of you who aren’t parade performers but still want to get involved, then you should apply for a chance to be on the parade judging panel. 2-3 judging seats will be chosen randomly from members of the public, and anyone over 18 is eligible.
All you have to do is submit your name, phone number, mail address, and email address to firstname.lastname@example.org or the above address by February 4.
Furthermore, the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee is also accepting applications for vendors to be featured during the 10-day festival. Interested participants must submit a vendor agreement form and mail or drop it off at the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce (193 River Street) by January 28.
There are some additional guidelines to be aware of. All potential food or beverage vendors must also have a New York State operating permit from at least 30 days prior to the event. You must display it if asked by officials.
All applications are currently available online at www.saranaclakewintercarnival.com or at the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce.
