Summer starts in just a few weeks, and many of us are gearing up for tons of exciting festivals, races, and other kinds of outdoor activities in the Adirondacks. Can’t wait for the season to begin? Take a trip to the Adirondack Park this weekend for a preview of what this summer will have to offer!
Pre-Summer Festivals, Shows & Celebrations
Join Paul Smith’s College VIC for their 15th annual Great Adirondack Birding Celebration on June 2-4. The festival will include day-long birding workshops in the Adirondacks, activities for the family, face painting, naturalist programs, fun for kids, and more. Registration is required for the workshops.
Get ready for a weekend of uphill, downhill, serious, and fun competitions at the 2017 Wilmington Whiteface Bike Fest! Visitors are encouraged to come by and watch the exciting bike events. On Sunday, check out the vendor expo, children’s activities, demo bikes, live music, and food.
Get out your tie-dye and bring your furry friend to Chestertown for a weekend of peace, paws, and music – Adirondack Woof Stock! In addition to live music, food, and vendors on both days, your dog will be able to participate in a wide variety of fun events, such as Dock Diving.
The family-friendly Antique Everything and Horse Show at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport, NY will take place on June 3 & 4. For just $3 per person, visitors will get to see antique tractors and vehicles, watch horse show competitions, enjoy games, and browse craft vendors. Proceeds will benefit the North Country SPCA.
Are you a fan of everything rhubarb? If so, then the Rhubarb Festival at the Warrensburg Riverfront Farmers’ Market is the event for you! From 3:00pm-6:00pm this Friday, find locally grown rhubarb stalks and plants for sale, pick up some recipes, and bring your own rhubarb dish for a chance to win a prize.
For the Motorcyclist
From June 2-11, the 17th annual Warrensburg Bike Rally will be going on at the Warren County Fairgrounds. This free motorcycle rally will feature tons of vendors, bikes, great deals on motorcycle products and services, and more.
Rev up your motorcycle this weekend and take a trip over to the Old Forge Region for the 2nd annual Bikes & Brews in the ADK! This two-day bike event is sponsored by local businesses and restaurants who will be hosting a variety of live music and specials.
Live Music Entertainment
Tapestry, also known as “The All-Centuries Singers,” is an a capella choir featuring veteran singers with classical choral experience. The group will be performing at View Arts Center in Old Forge this Sunday at 3:00pm, and admission is only $15 for non-members and $10 for members.
The Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek is hosting “A Night of Original Music” this Friday at 7:00pm. This songwriter competition will feature multiple local artists, and the winner will get to open for Nashville singer/songwriter Mike Dekle on June 10 at the Tannery Pond Community Center. Concert admission is $10 per person.
Fun Outdoor Activities
Celebrate National Trails Day with the Adirondack Mountain Club at the Adirondack Loj in Lake Placid. The Adirondack Mountain Club will be hosting ten different volunteer trail projects that vary in difficulty to ensure everyone can participate.
Does your kid love fishing? If so, then head over to Jennings Park Pond in Long Lake for a Youth Fishing Contest on Saturday morning. The pond is stocked with trout every spring, so there will be plenty of fish to catch. Prizes will be awarded too!
Calling all fishermen! The annual Rotary Fishing Classic at the Plattsburgh City Marina is happening this weekend, June 2-4. This year, the species categories will include a Salmon division, a Walleye division, and a Lake Trout division. There will be guaranteed cash prizes for the winners in each division.
This Sunday, the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce will host their 2nd annual golf tournament at Cronin’s Golf Resort. The tournament will be played in a scramble format, and registration is just $85 per golfer. Play some golf, enjoy networking, and help raise funds for the local Chamber of Commerce.
