Often considered the unofficial start of summer, Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-29) is a time when members of the community gather together to commemorate our fallen heroes. In the Adirondacks this weekend, there will be parades, ceremonies, activities, and more going on throughout most of the region. Stop by and remember what this special holiday is all about.
ADK Memorial Day Observances
The family-friendly Red, White & Blue Spring into Summer Celebration will be held in Old Forge over Memorial Day Weekend. Highlights this year will include live music, great specials, fireworks, a Memorial Day parade, and even more entertainment.
This weekend, the community of Crown Point is getting together to commemorate Memorial Day with their 149th Crown Point Memorial Day Celebration. Weekend events will include a new run/walk, a grand fireworks display, a parade, and events at Veteran’s Park.
If you’re going to be in the Lake George Region this Memorial Day Weekend, then be sure to attend this year’s Memorial Day parade. Organized by the American Legion Post #374, the parade will begin on Westbrook Road and travel down Canada Street into the village.
The American Legion Post #1402 in Inlet will host their Hamilton County Memorial Day Parade on Monday at 2:00pm. Join them as the parade leaves Inlet Fire Hall and heads toward Arrowhead Park.
Join the Long Lake community for an early morning Memorial Day Parade this Monday at 8:30am. The parade will honor those who have served our country and conclude with a wreath laying ceremony at the Long Lake Cemetery.
Celebrate Summer Early
Dancing Bears Restaurant at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid will celebrate the unofficial start of summer this weekend with Paradox Takes the Taps. The event will feature giveaways, a meet and greet with the Schroon Lake-based Paradox Brewery, an ADK cookout, beer cocktails, live music, and more.
The Raquette Lake Navigation Company will celebrate the opening of their 2017 season with a Music Cruise with Mitch Frasier. The cost is $10 per person, and tickets will be first come first served. Sailing will run from 4:00pm-6:00pm this Sunday.
Top Can’t-Miss Sales
Over in Champlain, NY, St. Mary’s Church will host their 50th annual Bazaar & Parade on Sunday from 11:00am-8:00pm. A huge lineup of events is scheduled, including a parade, pig roast barbecue, live entertainment, raffles, game booths, and more.
