60th Annual Hudson River Whitewater Derby
Saturday, May 6 & Sunday, May 7
It’s once again time for the return of the annual Hudson River Whitewater Derby in North Creek! Now celebrating its 60th anniversary, this two-day spectacle is expected to be even better than last year. Highlights include slalom races and a not-so-whitewater race on Saturday, a downriver race on Sunday, live music, awards, and more. The popular Sunday race will begin on the Hudson River in North Creek between the railway station and The Alpine Lodge.
I Love My Park Day and Spring Clean Up
Saturday, May 6
Help celebrate our natural resources and participate in Warrensburg’s I Love My Park and Spring Clean Up. This volunteer community event will take place at the local Farmers’ Market Park from 9:00am-12:00pm. There will be tools and buckets to use, but you are welcome to bring your own as well.

Spring Shopping & Dining Night in Ticonderoga
Friday, May 5
You won’t want to miss Ticonderoga’s Spring Shopping & Dining Night on Friday! During this special event, you can visit participating businesses, fill up your “passport” with stamps and stickers, and then turn it in to the Chamber for a chance to win gift certificates.
Saturday, May 6
Take a trip to the John Brown Farm State Historic Site this Saturday at 1:00pm for a celebration of John Brown Day 2017. During this year’s event, three Spirit of John Brown Freedom Awards will be given out. The public is welcome to attend.

4th Annual Pete Seeger Tribute Concert
Saturday, May 6
In support of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater Inc., an organization founded by Pete Seeger to promote environmental education, the First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake will host their 4th annual Pete Seeger Tribute Concert. Admission is free, but donations for Clearwater will be accepted.
Adirondack Shakespeare Co. presents Macbeth
Friday, May 5
The Adirondack Shakespeare Company’s 2017 season is underway, and on Friday, May 5, they will perform Macbeth at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek. This uncut production will begin at 8:00pm, and tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, students, and veterans, and free for children 12 and under.
Red Tail Ring at the Whallonsburg Grange
Friday, May 5
Stop by the Whallonsburg Grange in Essex for an exciting performance by Red Tail Ring, an American roots duo made up of Michael Beauchamp and Laurel Premo. Their instruments include the fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and jawharp. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $5 for everyone under 18.
Friday, May 5
The Howl Story Slam is a fun and intimate open microphone storytelling competition, and it’s coming to Raquette River Brewery in Tupper Lake this Friday. Starting at 7:00pm, participants will step up to the mic and tell a five-minute story.
Thursday, May 4 – Saturday, May 6
The Adirondack Stage Rats will present The Last Romance by Joe DiPietro on May 4, 5, and 6 at BluSeed Studios. The second series of performances will take place on May 11, 12, and 13. On Saturday, May 6, there will be a special matinee show at 2:00pm, and all proceeds will go toward the Tri-Lakes Humane Society.
