Saranac Lake is home to one of the most thriving arts and culture scenes in the Adirondacks. The Pendragon Theatre hosts world-class performances, the Adirondack Artists Guild Gallery features works by regional fine artists, and there are always fun, art-related activities going on. Here are some of the recent event announcements and updates in the area.
Tour Saranac Lake Artist Studios
On Friday, September 29, Saturday, September 30, and Sunday, October 1, multiple Saranac Lake area artists will open their workspaces and galleries for visitors as part of the Saranac Lake Artworks September Studio Tour.
This free, self-guided tour is a rare opportunity to learn about the inspiration, processes, and techniques of each individual artist. Members of the public will have an up close look at the artists at work as they demonstrate a variety of styles, subjects, and media, such as woodcarving, painting, printmaking, and more.
Most studios will be open from 10:00am-5:00pm on all three days, but some may have slightly different hours. There will also be ArtWorks Studio Tour banners and directional signs in the community to guide you to participating locations.
Ready to plan your tour? Check out the list of participating artists, pick which ones you want to visit, and head out to Saranac Lake this weekend. You’ll see some spectacular fall foliage along the way!
Visit The Toos Roozen-Evans Exhibit
This October, the Adirondack Artists Guild Gallery will feature “Compositions,” an exhibit of copper jewelry and handmade leather bags by artist Toos Roozen-Evans.
For her copper jewelry, Roozen-Evans was inspired by Native American culture. She shapes and solders all of her beads by hand, giving each piece an artisanal look.
Her handmade leather bags were inspired by the works of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, who used sparse compositions in primary colors.
The opening reception for “Compositions” will be held on Friday, October 8, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Adirondack Artists Guild Gallery. The exhibit will then be on display through Sunday, October 29.
Support The Pendragon Theatre
The Pendragon Theatre is the Saranac Lake area’s premier performing arts venue, featuring professional performances and educational programs throughout the year.
To improve their facilities for the future, the Pendragon Theatre is asking members of the public for help. The venue has received a grant to replace its aging sound system, but they need to raise $5,000 to meet the match requirement.
Their goal is to raise the $5,000 by November 30, 2017. Donate now >>
