One of the year’s biggest holiday weekends has arrived, and while many of us will be spending it with family and friends, that doesn’t mean all the fun has to be done at home. Here in the Adirondacks, some of the weekend’s top events and activities will include sleigh rides, holiday parties, and opportunities for winter fun in the snow. Celebrate the End of the Holidays
Christmas Eve Sleigh Rides – Sunday, December 24
Experience a magical sleigh ride through the snow on Christmas Eve at the John Brown State Historic Site in Lake Placid. These family-friendly sleigh rides will be hosted by Adirondack Sleigh Rides from 12:00pm-4:00pm. Reservations are required!
The Train To Christmas Town – Specific Dates Through Wednesday, December 27
When you take a ride aboard Saratoga & North Creek Railway’s Train To Christmas Town, you will get to experience the classic story as it comes to life. Meet the engaging cast of characters and have fun traveling to Christmas Town with the family. The final dates for the holiday train ride will be December 19-23 and December 26-27.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – Specific Dates Through Saturday, December 30
Enjoy a performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at the Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake this weekend. This theatrical production focuses on the trials and tribulations of rehearsing and presenting a Christmas pageant. Full of laughter and surprises, this hour-long show is a great way to celebrate the holidays with family and friends.
Winter Solstice Party – Friday, December 22
Take a trip to Big Tupper Brewing in Tupper Lake for their Winter Solstice Party on Friday! The party will kick off at 6:00pm, and it will feature live music, food, and awesome drink specials.
Movie Screening: It’s A Wonderful Life – Friday, December 22
Will you be in the Plattsburgh area this Friday? If so, then don’t miss out on the Strand Center Theatre’s screening of “It’s A Wonderful Life,” one of the most popular holiday films. The film screening will begin at 7:00pm, and tickets will be $5-7.
The Christmas on the Lake Party – Saturday, December 24
Swing by Lake George in the southeastern Adirondacks for some holiday fun at the Lake George Beach Club on Saturday. Their Christmas on the Lake Party will include an ice bar and ice luge as well as live music by Brandon LaRocca, The Switch, and The Stony Creek Band. Admission is free.

Hit the Slopes at Local Ski Resorts

Now that much of the Adirondack Park is covered in snow, many snowmobile trails are open for the season. Check some of the local clubs and see which trails are ready for you to ride on during this holiday weekend.
