Take Your Kids to Gore Week – Today Through Friday, January 26
Planning a ski trip with the family? Go to Gore Mountain! From now through this Friday (January 26), take advantage of a great ski special during Take Your Kids to Gore Week. Kids ages 19 and under can ski or ride for free when accompanied by a full-paying parent.
Family Weekend at The Wild Center – Friday, January 26 – Sunday, January 28
Enjoy fun activities, snowshoeing, and more during Family Weekend at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Family Weekends are free for members and cost general museum admission for other visitors.
Winter Birding Weekend in Long Lake – Saturday, January 27 & Sunday, January 28
Sign up for Winter Birding Weekend in Long Lake and experience two days of birding tours plus an afternoon presentation by local expert Joan Collins of Adirondack Avian Expeditions. All events and tours are free except for the dinner on Saturday night.
Enjoy Exciting Races & Competitions
The Garnet Hill Pursuit Race – Saturday, January 27
Up for a challenge? Participate in the Garnet Hill Pursuit Race at Garnet Hill Lodge this Saturday! All races will start at their Nordic Ski Center, and gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded at the end. Refreshments will be provided inside the lodge.
The Can/Am Lake Placid Adult Pond Hockey Tournament – Thursday, January 25 – Sunday, January 28
An adult pond hockey tournament will be held at Mirror Lake in Lake Placid for four days. Stop by and watch some of the thrilling hockey action all weekend long.
Candy Bar Races at Mt. Pisgah – Saturday, January 27
Do your kids like skiing and candy? If so, then bring them to the Mt. Pisgah Ski Area in Saranac Lake for the fun Candy Bar Races on Saturday morning. All participating kids will receive a candy bar when they reach the finish line.
Mike Norris Ice Fishing Derby on Raquette Lake – Saturday, January 27
Get your ice fishing gear ready and travel to Raquette Lake on Saturday for the annual Mike Norris Ice Fishing Derby. Registration will begin at 6:00am at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall, and the event will run throughout the day. Hot chocolate and snacks will also be provided.
Annual Bob Whitford Ice Fishing Tournament – Saturday, January 27
Test your ice fishing skills in the annual Bob Whitford Ice Fishing Tournament in Brant Lake on Saturday. The cost to participate is $20, and proceeds will benefit a scholarship in the name of Bob Whitford.
Celebrate the Winter Season
Friday Night Ski Jam – Friday, January 26
Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake will host a Friday Night Ski Jam from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The evening will include live music, great food, and more. Admission is free.
Snowshoe by the Light of the Moon Guided Tour – Saturday, January 27
Join Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center for their Snowshoe by the Light of the Moon Guided Tour on Saturday from 5:30pm-9:00pm. These guided tours start off with a meal and then feature a memorable moonlit snowshoe tour.
Full Moon Ski & Bonfire – Saturday, January 27
Have some fun at the Tupper Lake XC Ski Center on Saturday night during the Full Moon Ski & Bonfire. Bring your cross-country skis or snowshoes and follow the lighted torch trail to the fire pit/bonfire at Cranberry Pond.
