Have a fun night out in Schroon Lake this summer! The Strand Theater and the Adirondack Film Society are collaborating for the fourth year in a row to bring classic film screenings to the Adirondacks. Enjoy classic cinema the way it was meant to be experienced at The Strand’s Art Deco theater and hear from special guests who will discuss the films.
Silent Comedies Featuring Buster Keaton

On Monday, July 27 at 8 pm, The Strand will play three recently-restored short silent comedies starring Buster Keaton: One Week, The Scarecrow, and The Blacksmith. All three premiered in the early 1920s and will be accompanied by live piano scoring. Ben Model, a professional film accompanist from the Library of Congress and The Museum of Modern Art, will introduce, score, and answer questions after each of the films.
Guests can purchase tickets for $10 each (cash only) upon arrival.
Casablanca
Join audiences at The Strand again on Monday, August 12 at 8 pm for a screening of Casablanca (1942). Jeremy Arnold, a film historian, contributor for Turner Classic Movies (TCM), and author of The Essentials: 52 Must-See Movies and Why They Matter, will present the classic film.
Tickets for this event are also $10 and can be purchased (cash only) when you arrive at The Strand.
