Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced the completion of the Frontier Town Campground Equestrian and Day Use Area on the site of the former Frontier Town theme park in North Hudson. Here’s what you can expect at the campground and when you can check it out.
About $25 million in public and private resources has gone into the completion of Frontier Town Campground. The property includes an equestrian camping area with 33 sites, an RV and trailer camping area with 13 sites, a tent camping area with 45 sites, a seasonal day-use area (with a pavilion and playgrounds), and a network of pedestrian trails (a few with water site views).
This campground is part of Cuomo’s Adventure NY Initiative to increase access to state lands and connect New Yorkers to nature. A big focus of the campground is to make it accessible for all ages and abilities; there are many ADA-compliant features.
Frontier Town Campground is open from June 28th through Columbus Day Weekend.
“Generations of New Yorkers remember the Frontier Town theme park as the place their childhood dreams became real, and now with the restoration of this campground, new generations of New Yorkers will get to experience some of that same excitement,” Governor Cuomo said in a statement.
