You Can See Nature in Action at Crown Point State Historic Site
If you didn’t know, the Crown Point State Historic Site is a prime location under the Atlantic Flyway for viewing birds migrating north for the season. The historic site welcomes the return of the Crown Point Banding Station to record migration data on site for its 46th year.
The banding station will be in operation from May 7 to 21 from 6am to 6pm. You can keep a lookout for their live stream from the station, provided by NYS Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. And, there are three events happening that are open to the public:
- Guided Bird Hike: May 13
- Build a Better Birdhouse Workshop: May 15
- Beginner Birder Outing: May 20

Plattsburgh Farmers Market Starts This Saturday
The Plattsburgh Farmers and Crafters Market starts this weekend at their new location on Green Street. There will be hanging plants, handcrafted wooden items, and much more that would make excellent Mother’s Day gifts! Check it out 9am to 2pm on Saturday.

The View Announces Virtual Cinema Event, Showcases Russian Museum
The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg is the second largest museum in the world, and you can (virtually) tour this major attraction through a documentary. Hermitage: The Power of Virtual Event Cinema airs from May 26 to June 1 at 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, and 10pm. You can watch on your computer, tablet, or you can download the Stellar app to your TV.
Warrensburg Museum Reopens This Weekend
On May 5, the Warrensburg Museum of Local History announced their reopening on Facebook. The museum is free and will be open Saturday and Sunday 1pm to 2pm at their location at 3754 Main Street. Enter through the back.
Best 4th In the North Grand Marshal Nominations Are Being Accepted Now
The Ticonderoga Best 4th In the North Committee is now accepting nominations for a Grand Marshal for the 2021 Best 4th in the North parade. You can submit a nomination via Facebook message to Best 4th in the North or by emailing tmsp@timainstreet.org. The deadline to submit nominations is June 4, 2021.
“For a Grand Marshal, think of people who are truly dedicated to the community, serve the Ticonderoga area throughout the year, and people who have been an inspiration to the community,” Chairperson Debbie Barber said in a statement.
