A Destination For Outdoor Enthusiasts: North River, NY
North River is a small hamlet in the Town of Johnsburg that sits on the banks of the Hudson River. With plenty of outdoor activities to do in and around North River, thousands of visitors make it to this small community each year.

Perhaps best known for its proximity to Gore Mountain, North River is also home to one of the world's largest garnet deposits. At its peak, it was the epicenter of garnet mining industry in the state. When you visit, you can take a guided tour of the mine and collect some garnet!
North River is also home to miles of cross-country skiing trails, great whitewater rafting on the Hudson River, and lots more activities.
