The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake is an Adirondack Rustic Resort in the Great Camp Tradition. Since 1921, the natural setting, property features, hospitality, charm and ambiance have been enjoyed by individuals, couples and families for generations.
Welcome to The Hedges
We are located at the heart of six million acres of pristine lakes, old growth forests, and dense evergreen stands. The Hedges offers more than 30 family-friendly and adult lodging options. Stay in one of our charming nineteenth-century lodge rooms, cozy mid-century cabins, or well-appointed suites.
Gather in our central dining room surrounded by rustic antiques to enjoy a cooked-to-order breakfast and four-course dinner. The evening menu changes daily and offers several hearty, healthy options, including vegetarian choices. Daily housekeeping is provided.
Experience Authentic Adirondack Hospitality
Activities abound at The Hedges, and there is something for everyone!
Begin your day with a refreshing swim at our sandy beach or off the swim dock. After breakfast, take a paddle on the Eckford Chain of lakes in our fleet of kayaks, canoes, and SUPs. Visit the nearby Adirondack Experience museum, the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, and Great Camp Sagamore. Climb to the top of the fire tower on Blue Mountain, or hike any number of other wilderness trails in the area. Rush down the upper reaches of the Hudson River on a guided whitewater rafting adventure, or venture across the lake for a daring plunge off Rock Island.
You can also play an afternoon game of tennis on our clay court, or in the Recreation Barn game room. Enjoy the quiet respite of a good book while sitting along our 1,500-foot shoreline or curled up in a lodge sitting room. Stroll among the seasonal gardens that dot the grounds. Savor spectacular sunsets and charming vistas from one of our many porches. Toast s’mores and enjoy fireside conversations at the lean-to, and participate in programs at the Activities Pavilion. Then grab a bedtime snack before settling in as the resident loons serenade you to sleep.
The Hedges was built in the late 1800s as a private estate and is one of very few historic Adirondack Great Camps now open to the public. We operate on an all-inclusive, modified American plan and are open from early June through mid-October.
