About this event
The Black Fly Challenge is a 40-mile one-way gravel grinder race through the Moose River Wild Forest between Inlet and Indian Lake. This event attracts pro racers and recreational riders on gravel bikes, mountain bikes, tandems, and unicycles.
Important Race Rules:
This is a race, not a ride. All racers must finish within the 5-hour timing limit or they will be recorded as DNF. The Sweeper Crew can disqualify racers who cannot maintain this pace. While 6 or 7 water stations are provided, racers should carry their own water, energy supplies, tools, and tubes. Mechanical support is not allowed on the course. No racing license is required.
Schedule and Locations:
Friday, June 12
- 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM: Packet Pickup at Pedals and Petals
Saturday, June 13 (Race Day)
- 7:30 AM: Shuttles leave Indian Lake School for Inlet
- 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM: Packet Pickup at Inlet Town Hall, Route 28
- 9:45 AM: Official Instructions at the starting line
- 10:00 AM: Race Begins
- 11:30 AM: Post Race Party begins at Indian Lake School
- 2:45 PM: Awards Ceremony
- 3:00 PM: Timing Ends and return shuttle departs for Inlet
Logistics:
This is a destination race. It is highly recommended to have someone drive your vehicle to the finish line at Indian Lake. Limited shuttle service is available for those who cannot arrange private transportation; reservations must be made via BikeReg.
