Canton, NY: A Charming Village With Two Universities In Northern New York
The Village of Canton, in St. Lawrence County is less than an hour from the Adirondack Park and a short drive from the Canadian Border. Known as a college community, Canton is home to SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University.

Canton is full of activities and attractions. Miles of recreational trails and nearby bodies of water make for excellent outdoor recreation. Road and bike races happen throughout the year. After the winter thaw, head to the Grasse River for fantastic canoeing. The village is also home to arts and historical institutions perfect for expanding your knowledge about the North Country.
With such a large population of college students, cheap eats are easy to find in town. You'll find everything from pizza to Manhattan-style bagels to burritos at local restaurants.
